Public Speaking Training
Thinking seriously in your career means that you should improve your public speaker skills so they will make you earn more money and get reconnaissance from people in your business. A good speaker must work hard to be an entertainer and deliver unique information content to make people remember you after your verbal presentation.
This means you make BIG difference in people’s lives.
Also is important to know that a career in public speaking takes commitment and the opportunities for this business are growing quickly as more and more companies seek professionals to help motivate and inspire their employees.
Those that have something to offer can use that wisdom to empower others. Those that don’t or those that choose not to develop expertise in a niche or field, will not find anyone interested in their services.
If you are intending to start a public speaking career, you would ultimately need to know what you have to offer and to market your skills accordingly.
First of all: your must be able to sell yourself.
You are developing a business and the product you are selling is …you…the expression of your experience, your ability to motivate.
It’s not an easy thing to sell yourself.
It has to be done elegantly and gracefully, along with flair!
I think when I look at what people remember me for, it becomes clear that people connect with you through your stories. And nothing is more intimate than the brief, well-constructed snippets from the video of your life.
When you can take advantage of everything life has thrown your way, and educate others on those experiences as far as cutting learning curve or making it through difficulties, you can become an effective public speaker make a heck of a lot of money in the process.
By the way, there are plenty of people who don’t want to speak as a keynote speaker; but instead they want to speak as a way to generate business for their insurance, real estate, law and medical practices… among others.

Public Speaking on the Internet
Inspired by 25 Skills Every Man Should Know, I pondered a list of the 25 essential skills every public speaker should have. How did I do?
Every public speaker should be able to:
- Research a topic Good speakers stick to what they know. Great speakers research what they need to convey their message.
- Focus Help your audience grasp your message by focusing on your message. Stories, humour, or other sidebars should connect to the core idea. Anything that doesn t needs to be edited out.
- Organize ideas logically A well-organized presentation can be absorbed with minimal mental strain. Bridging is key.
- Employ quotations, facts, and statistics Don t include these for the sake of including them, but do use them appropriately to complement your ideas.
- Master metaphors Metaphors enhance the understandability of the message in a way that direct language often can not.
- Tell a story Everyone loves a story. Points wrapped up in a story are more memorable, too!

The global economy has seen almost two decades of solid growth, with a few minor setbacks on the way. Many people who are in sales now have never seen a recession up close and personal. They only know the good times, and their sales habits and philosophy were formed during the boom. Now that the world has changed, they are unsure how to adapt. We are in the trenches, and we would like to share our thoughts and Action strategies
The Sky is Falling?
There are many industries that are severely affected by the present economy, and many salespeople and business owners are seeing turbulence in their markets. Doom and gloom is the mood of the moment in the news media and the frenzy is also being stoked by the 24/7 news cycle on TV and the Internet.
We are regularly hearing comparisons to The Great Depression and fifty-year lows in various statistics. The average consumer is scared, somewhat angry and they are considering lifestyle cutbacks. At the same time, the government is making unprecedented intrusions into the banking system and other parts of the free-enterprise markets, with unknown results.
We should not bury our head in the sand, but we should put this in some perspective before we jump totally onto the Chicken Little bandwagon. Business is normally cyclical, and we are overdue for a slowdown by most past measures. We had somewhat of a perfect storm of events with the bursting of the real estate bubble, the insolvency of many banks due to ridiculous lending practices, and the incredible spike in oil prices which acted like a huge tax on the entire economy. These events are now unwinding and causing pain, but there is a limit to the amount of damage that they can still cause.
For the millions of people whose livelihood depends on selling goods and services to pay the bills, there is no choice but to get up in the morning, put on the work attire, and get out there and sell.
Build Your Defenses
In turbulent times, it is very important to make an honest evaluation of your situation. Napoleon Hill called this Accurate Thinking and it is more important in changing times than in more stable ones. If you work for a company as a salesperson, you should consider how safe your position is, as well as how safe your company is. You should take a hard cold look at the industry you are in be brutally honest .
Assess whether your industry was already facing challenges from technological advances (obsolescence), globalization, or other causes BEFORE the economic slowdown occurred. If your industry looks like a dinosaur, this is the time to make a change to a better industry.
Sales skills are highly transferable
Sales people are always in demand even during a downturn, and you can use this time while you still have another job to learn the vocabulary and gain expertise in another industry or market.
If you decide that your industry is a good candidate for recovery, then make it your top priority to keep your job. Make yourself valuable and indispensable to your company and the owners. Work harder, do things on time, and without complaint. Watch your expense reports, and be extra careful to only spend money on justifiable business expenses. Be a positive influence on your company and your customers, and don t make waves.
You should get your personal financial house in order you want to avoid surprises and control your own destiny. Take a hard look at your income. This could be a great time to find other sources of income, like starting a side business
You should also look at your expenses carefully. Many people allow expenses to creep and you should know exactly what your family is spending. Maybe there are non-essential things that can be eliminated, or maybe you can get a competitive quote on larger cost items like insurance. Consider re-financing your home at todays low rates while they are still available and while your finances are strong.
Try to keep saving some money for a rainy day. Do not look at right now as the rainy day and tap into your emergency savings if at all possible. Once you have gotten your expenses in line with your income, it is time to make changes to improve yourself.

If you have been looking for a tinnitus cure, tinnitus treatment or therapy, you’ve obviously arrived here to determine what works and what is not likely to work.
I’ve been in your shoes. I know how hard it is.
Before we begin:
Beware of anyone touting a singular and/or literal "instant" cure for tinnitus because those situations (where tinnitus remits quickly) are not the norm. The good news is that people who suffer from even the most serious tinnitus can dramatically improve. Many will achieve remission. There is plenty you can do to bring you to silence but do remember there are no "tinnitus remedies" or "instant cures," so save your money.
If you want to know how important the cause of your tinnitus is to the process of tinnitus reduction or remission, that will be addressed below as well. (The correct spelling for tinnitus is not tinnitis, tinitis or tinitus).
For information about successful self-help for tinnitus, see here!
What follows is a sample of common questions (some have been paraphrased or edited, especially those that come from international readers) I have received in the mail and by e-mail from thousands of people over the past 15 years.
I think you already know that this FAQ is not to be taken as medical advice. Please see your medical doctor for medical care
What is tinnitus and why can’t anyone seem to help?
Tinnitus is any noise or set of sounds heard that is generated in the ear, hearing system, or brain. Most people who experience severe or moderate tinnitus, that we’ve worked with, experience tinnitus that is generated in the brain even when the original cause was loud sound or otoxic drugs. If you haven’t figured it out yet, everyone from medical doctors to alternative practitioners look in the ear for tinnitus.
Far more often than not…"it’s" not there.
They look for the hearing loss…and it’s very often not there either…
Nevertheless…
That’s a good place to start. However…in most cases, it simply isn’t there. It’s not being generated from there and it’s a waste of time after a few things are ruled out to keep looking in an empty box and hoping to find something…. That’s why they "can’t do anything." Had they known to look in the right place they would have found it.
The vast majority of the time "it’s" in the brain.
ENT’s have told you for years, "There’s nothing I can do, you’ll have to learn to live with it." The reasons there is nothing THEY can do is because they currently aren’t prepared to deal with problems that occur in the brain…
And…by the way, tinnitus is no big brain "malfunction." More often than not it is best thought of as persistent memory (most cases in my experience) much like phantom limb pain.
Just now is research catching up with what was in Tinnitus: Turning the Volume Down, back in 1996. This is a neurological/neurobiological/etc. issue….and only a minority of the time is it also an issue that relates to an eardrum, hammer or anything in the ear…
All that said, remember that the people I’ve worked with over the past decade are people who experience moderate to severe tinnitus. Most contemplate suicide and are severely anxious or depressed. I only speak from my personal experience and the thousands of people I’ve worked with. And remember, I’ve not had experience with people that have mild tinnitus. My work was with those suffering on a moderate to severe level.
This is important because I believe mild tinnitus often is the brain filling in from a hearing deficit at certain and often specific frequencies.
[The perennial question is whether I will begin doing therapy again someday. As of today's date, I have not, but it's always possible in the future. I will probably take a few teleconsults in 2010.]
Anyone who treats severe tinnitus as a disorder of the ear when testing shows nothing dramatically wrong with hearing (i.e. total deafness), will indeed fail in helping the person who suffers.
Can I get cured from tinnitus too?
It depends on what you mean by cured. In my experience, if cure means "silent," near silent or significantly improved, then yes, almost everyone can improve.
The word "cure" is very final in it’s feel. I won’t use that word because it can sometimes, mislead.
Some people do achieve silence. Some won’t. It’s tough to know in advance who will accomplish what. There are factors to help predict silence, but I still get surprised as people improve drmatically when I thought they might only improve a little, even with time.
Silence for you? Maybe. About 1/3 to half of my long term clients reported tinnitus remission. Usually a great deal of work, time and effort, goes into remission. (Medical doctor invested in the patient, a therapist invested with the patient… etc.)
100% noise elimination/remission is certain for some people. As time goes on and strategies/therapy is more refined, the percentage of clients reporting silence at similar time intervals in the past is growing.
Happily, almost everyone can dramatically improve from where they are today. See more here!
I know you can tell a lot about a cat’s mood just by their tail and body language, but I’ve always wondered if it’s reciprocated in the same fashion.
Do cats understand or know how to interpret our body language? Besides reaching out to pet them, or playing/throwing a toy for attention. I dance around the house all the time and my cats always seem to get hyper and excited.
They are both so different in their body language. Tell us how you would interrupt them singularly.
What does the constant wink and a thumbs up mean in terms of body language?
I disagree I think it means more than you think. My personal feeling is it is patronizing. I just wanted to know what others think?
Are psychiatrists trained in that area?
How do I know when a girl is flirting with me? What are some things that girls do using body language when they’re flirting?
I am searching for a few good books to read about understanding horses.
I would like to learn horse phychology, behavior, body language, training and understanding.
If possible, I’d love to find a book that would help one understand horses on a more spiritual level.
I want to be able to connect with my horses.
Let me know thanx! That’d be awesome!
Please please tell me. i am trying to write an article about it and i dont know what i should focus on. What is a unique and interesting aspect of Body Language that most people would be interested about?
Are Intelligence Agencies now training at a much more advanced level in psychology, and sociology or are methods much the same as the Cold War? I was thinking as psychological methods such as hypnotism and body language develop, then the training for intelligence agencies would develop.
I like this guy, and I have to go to a dance at his church. The church is old-fashioned, so the boys have to dance with every girl they know. When I’m slow dancing with him, what signs or body language should I look for to determine if he likes me? He used to like me, but I haven’t seen him in awhile, so I don’t know if he likes me anymore.
Are there any special-targeted courses to achieve this, or it is more like a journey on your own?
Any specific self-training methods? Games?
If someone is telling you one thing and their body language is saying something else, which do you believe? Do you think body language pertains to everyone or are some people simply unreadable?
Body language is a huge part of conversation. What percentage of body language do you think can be expressed through a webcam conversation (with a microphone)?
Or, maybe to put it in another way… Let’s say verbal communication is 40% of communication and body language is 60%. If two people just talked by phone, they would only be communicating to an extent of 40%. If they added a webcam, to what % would that 40% increase? To like, 50%? What do you think?
It’s about 10 months that I want to improve my body language but I can’t. I think it has two reasons that I can’t find solution for that.
My first problem is that in most times I forget that. It means that I cannot focus on my body when I am thinking to anything else.
My next problem is that in some situations I do not know how to act.
I want to practice but I can’t. I think that I need training
Attracted body language such as, crossed legs and pointed towards me and catching eyes(though, now she looks away really fast when our eyes do meet). When we talk she would be more serious, she wouldn’t have the flirty/joking attitude that she takes on when to other guys, even if it’s just small talk. Any ideas? Is she into me or no?
Like if I try to strike a conversation with him/her by asking general questions and he/she does not wish to talk to me? How would his/her replies and body language be like?
How might this affect the way they run. example – How can you tell a nervous horse from one "on their toes"? What does it mean when a horse goes into a "war type dance" looking gait before the race? Is being lathered up good or bad, what about being saddled in the paddock or having no pony during the post parade?
Can anyone thoroughly explain some of the body language of a thoroughbred racehorse prior to the race and how it may influence their run?
I want to own my sexuality instead of being afraid of it. How do I train myself to put out the kind of body language and vibrations that will eventually convince me that I am the poop?
I am not very confident at the moment as I am going through many relationship issues with friends, family but especially my girlfriend. I was reading that people who appear confident through body language are more attractive and that this in itself could boost confidence. What are the signs I can try immitating like breathing, posture when sitting/standing. What body language would appeal to my girlfriend and help turn our relationship to how it used to be?
I’m training my oratory. Consider these aspects:
– Body Language (including posture, gestures and facial expression)
– Voice (including rhythm and tone)
– Word use (creating the right allegories, analogies etc)
My goal is to be able to use them rationally and consciously in my orations. NLP seems to deal with these subjects, but, according to wikipedia, there is large criticism of it being Pseudoscience.
What do you think of it? Are there any alternatives?
Suggestions, tips and general help are greatly appreciated
i have a friend who is a really slow talker. Yet she tells me she’s had public speaking experiences in presentations where she was given special ovations for her performance. She tells me she gets nervous often. The thing with me is, i don’t really get nervous when speaking in public and yet i fumble still in unpredictable manner where you never know where in my sentence i will stumble on a word, just losing my train of thought. I just wonder how is my nervous friend able to speak better when she is the nervous one. So i ask, does anyone here know anyone who talks really slow and yet they claim to be nervous and still speak real well in public? I just wanna see if it’s common, if it is, then i’ll feel better
What are your thoughts? My co-worker said she was poised and polished only because she is a former beauty queen runner-up with public speaking training.
I didn’t miss it. I saw it.
You people are funny to me. I didn’t say that I support anyone. I just asked a question about Sarah’s speech.
